Best Ways to Strengthen Weak Nails

Nail art has been trending hard in the past few years, and weak nails just can’t seem to keep up with the trends. Don’t stress, or break a nail over it, because the good news is, there are plenty of natural ways to strengthen nails to help you fan your strong, healthy and gorgeous new colors.


Avoid Over Exposure to Water

Soaking your nails too long in water will weaken the nails, causing them to break more easily. Try to wear gloves when washing the dishes, avoid swimming for long periods at a time, and try to keep your hands out of your relaxing bath hours. Instead of soaking your hands in water, try soaking them in natural oils like, olive oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil, and vitamin E oil to strengthen those nails.


Choose your Nail Polish and Polish Removers Wisely

If you have weak nails it’s important to choose nail polishes that aren’t harmful to your nails. Try to find non-toxic nail polishes and avoid removers that have acetone, which is known to damage the nail beds. While we’re here, try to use nail polish remover as little as possible, no matter how tempting that new pale yellow may be.


Keep Your Nails Short

Keep the nails short to avoid harsh breakage and when you file them down make sure to run the file in one direction. It’s true, in the movies they always run the file back and forth, while chewing gum, but now they may be none too happy about that move.


Drink More Water

There are too many drinks out there that dehydrate us, rather than hydrate us, as ironic as that may sound it’s all too true. If you absolutely love to drink coffee and other caffeinated drinks, make sure to up your water intake and keep yourself hydrated throughout the day. Your skin, hair, nails and overall health will all thank you if they had a way to.
