Fashion trends in the past decade seem to be borrowing a lot from the past, but the best part is most of us still have those gems tucked away in our first jewelry boxes and drawers filled with our preteen diaries. This list may require a trip back home to your parents’ house, so if you’re a closet hoarder too nostalgic to throw away those items loaded with first kiss memories, it’s just about time to bring these lucky charms back to life (if you haven’t already done so).
The ultimate 90’s Necklace:
While there may be a few necklace items in our drawers and photo albums that marked the 90’s trends for us, the choker is one gem that never should’ve faded from our lives. The tattoo choker, which was a must have in the 90’s, came back in style just a few short years ago, but it only reminded us of all the possible materials to tie close to our necks and upgrade our Saturday night outfits. Other options are, lace chokers, velvet chokers and if you’re really feeling ambitious and confident, then opt for a leather choker. If you want to add a cherry on top, slip a charm down your choker, but just make sure it’s a yin-yang, smiley face, or peice symbol and you’re good to go.
Earrings we’re in Love with:
Gold hoop earrings is just another style that should have never died, but for many of us, it hasn’t. With hoop earrings the rules go, the bigger the better, and if you prefer silver over gold, that’ll do just fine. The best part about hoop earrings is that it’s also trending for men again, maybe even more so than for women. When a man has gold or silver hoops gaping around his earlobe, it’s as if he immediately becomes 10x sexier, but in the men’s case, there definitely is a hoop size-limit!
If rings don’t count as earrings then:
Of course when you think of the 90’s (if you were at least 9 by 1999 that is) then you probably conjure up the image of your favorite mood ring. Mood rings come in all shapes and sizes, but if you’ve found a dolphin or alien head mood ring then you’ve certainly found gold. And, while we’re here, let’s not forget about toe rings, better squeeze one on before the summer season comes to an abrupt close (though we can still cross our fingers for an Indian summer).
